Arriva l- 9:00 a.m. - During the first weeks
of school, a teacher will receive the children at the preschool door. After
this time children must be brought to the door down the stairs, where the teacher
will meet the children. Please make good-byes brief so that the child can adjust
to school activities, especially during the first month of school.
Note: Daily attendance is important if your child is to benefit from
his /her school experience. There will be no make-up days for absenteeism. Please
call the school if your child is going to be out.
Dismissal - 12:00 - Parents should wait outside
the upper entrance door. The
children will be dismissed by the teacher. Your child will wait at the “waiting
wall” and you must take his/her hand for the child to be dismissed from
the wall, this is due to safety concerns, please do not leave your child unattended
in the parking lot.
Note: If you are going to pick up your child early or are going to be late picking
up your child, please call to let us know. If there are repeated offenses of
late pick-ups, the school will have the right to charge a late fee of $10.00
for each 15-minute interval.
IMPORTANT - If your child is to be picked up by someone different or someone not listed on the school form, the parent must write a note giving permission. The note must include the person’s name and relationship to the child. The person picking up the child may be asked to show identification.
Transportation - The school does not provide transportation at this time (with the exception of field trips). Parents are encouraged to establish car pools.
Termination and Suspension: A child may be
terminated from Children's Ark Preschool for the following reasons:
*Bringing harm to others or himself
*Non-payment of tuition
Before a child is terminated or suspended from the program, the Director shall
either (1) set up a meeting with the child's parent(s) (2) mail documentation
of non-payment to the parents with the reason and date for withdrawal. Every
effort will be made to reach a satisfactory agreement.
Parent(s) will be informed that there are resources available if further financial assistance is needed.
The child will be prepared for the dismissal by staff and the
other students will be informed. We will have a farewell celebration for any
child leaving the program.
Toys - Do not send toys to school with your child as they may
get lost and the child will finish the day very upset. We will plan specific
show and tell days, which will be announced in the monthly newsletter. Please
label any items with your child’s name.
Clothing - We do go outside every day when the temperature is 40 degrees and above. Please dress your child for outside weather. Please mark all outer clothing or extra clothing with the child’s name. Dress child in play clothes and non-skid rubber sole shoes. No sandals or clogs please. Children may bring an extra set of clothing (pants, shirt, socks, and underwear) to leave at the preschool. These clothes may be put in a shoebox with the child’s name and class written on the end. Labeled backpacks are permissible.
Toilet Training - This is a parental responsibility. Children who are admitted to the program must be toilet trained.
Birthday Parties - We like to observe each child’s birthday at school. You can help by sending in refreshments for the class. Some suggestions would be cupcakes, cookies, hoodsies, or other individual items.
Health - Your child’s health forms and
shots must be up to date. You will be notified in writing when your child’s
health records or immunizations are not current. You must then summit a current
health form within thirty days.
No medication will be given to your child during school hours. For safety reasons,
please do not send cough drops to school with your child.
Children will participate in evacuation drills for emergency
situations in Sept., Nov., March and May.
There will be a first aid kit available. If treatment is administered to a child,
documentation will be made in our injury log. A staff member and the parent
will sign an injury report. A copy will be given to the parent within 24 hours.
Pending the nature of the injury, the child will be transported to hospital
by either the parent or an ambulance. If transported by ambulance, the teacher
will accompany the child and take the child’s personal file, which contains
consent forms. The parent(s) would be notified immediately.
Your childs day is flexibly planned around the needs and interests of 3 to 5 year old children. Through a planned program in a Christian atmosphere, the teachers will guide your child to grow, to learn and get along with his peers.

The areas are variable, but basically will contain large manipulatives, small manipulatives, art, library, computer, housekeeping, science, and language activities.

Bathroom Time The children will go to two bathrooms in two groups with two teachers. They will learn the importance of washing hands and self-help skills.
