Objectives

To increase the child's ability to cooperate, plan, and follow through in group activities.
To develop positive attitudes toward society.
To develop leadership skills.

Intellectual Objectives
To maintain an inquisitive nature as motivation for learning.
To approach the environment with problem solving skills.
To acquire skills and motivation that will provide self-directed learning.
To learn for self-satisfaction.

Emotional Objectives
To establish patterns which encourage self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-esteem.
To develop expectations of success that lead to future confidence in learning efforts.
To develop a sense of self-dignity and to respect others.
To respond to aesthetic opportunities provided.

Language Objectives
To carry on a conversation with an adult on a topic of interest.
To think through and describe a future course of action that may be realistically possible.

Religious Objectives
To offer voluntary sentence prayers during worship.
To express appreciation for the world that God has created.
To identify things and persons for which to thank and praise God.

Family Objectives
To enable parents to understand their children better and be more effective parents.
Conduct parent meetings during the year on issues about parenting selected by the parents.
Provide occasional literature for parents which will help them understand their children.
Encourage parents to assist in the classroom.

 

Curriculum

We acknowledge that a child's play is his/her work. The focus is on teaching attitudes and learning processes that will equip a child for life, not just for kindergarten.

Learning centers that encourage this growth through play include:

A housekeeping center
A sand or water table
An art center
A library with computers
A large muscle area
A puppet theater
An indoor play area
An outdoor play area
A snack and lunch area
A large group area
